There are five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONBs) either wholly or partly within Devon. Most of these offer grant schemes to support projects that bring social, environmental and/or economic benefits to their area, depending on the availability of funding. The following schemes are currently open:
Blackdown Hills AONB – grants of up to £2,000 for projects that benefit the environment, communities and businesses in the Blackdown Hills AONB and promote understanding and enjoyment of the area. Public, private, voluntary and community groups; individuals and businesses can also apply if they can demonstrate that their project has a clear benefit for the wider community. Apply by 31 January 2021
East Devon AONB – grants of up to £4,000 for individuals, groups or businesses with ideas for projects that will benefit the East Devon AONB, its users and surrounding area. Apply at any time but projects must be financially complete by 1 March 2021
North Devon Coast AONB – grants of between £100 and £4,000 to support communities, agencies and businesses with projects to benefit the local area. The priority themes for 2020/21 are (1) biodiversity and (2) access, health & wellbeing. Projects must be completed by the end of February 2021.
There are separate criteria and priorities for each scheme, so it is important to refer to the relevant guidance for the area in question. Refer to the links above for more information.
