Fund description:

Seafarers UK provides grants to maritime charities and charitable maritime projects, working to help serving and ex-serving seafarers and their families who are experiencing hardship. This includes older seafarers, working-age seafarers, the families and dependents of retired and active seafarers, young people in maritime youth groups.

The new COVID-19 Emergency Fund is intended to support maritime welfare charities which are facing additional costs and pressures as a direct consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic. This includes:

  • making hardship grant payments to seafarers and their families
  • providing a new welfare service or response to support seafarers and/or their families
  • additional operating costs
  • loss of organisational income
  • liquidity or cashflow issues
  • risk of organisational or service closure

Seafarers UK is also offering flexibility around dates and activities to existing grant-holders who need to make changes to their projects and services.
