WRAP, the Waste and Resources Action Programme, has announced new funding to support projects in England. The Resource Action Fund is an £18million fund, provided by Defra to support resource efficiency projects, with the goal of diverting, reducing, and better managing, waste.
The grants will support key policy outcomes in the areas of food, plastics, textiles, recycling infrastructure and litter. There are separate timetables for each policy area.
Current open programmes:
Non-household municipal waste business grant
To provide capital infrastructure to support an increase of non-household municipal (NHM) waste recycling in England. The aim is to encourage those organisations that either collect or facilitate collection of this waste to provide new or improved recycling services and operations that will increase the volume of NHM being recycled.
Grants range from £25,000 to £170,000. Organisations of any size can apply.
Stage 1 outline applications by 4 September 2019
Plastics Packaging and Textile Recycling
Organisations in England can apply for funding for innovative solutions to drive up the recycling of hard-to-recycle plastic packaging such as plastic trays, pots and tubs, plastic films and pouches, as well as funding for innovative projects that boost the recycling of textiles when they have reached the end of their life.
Stage 1 proposals by 2 August 2019
Further phases will cover food processing, recycling infrastructure and litter bins.
