Fund title: Natural Capital Challenge Fund
Focus of fund/fund aims:
Devon County Council is launching a new fund to support projects that use Natural Capital as a tool to create employment and skills
20 August 2021
A new fund has been launched by Devon County Council to help the Devon economy to build back better and encourage the green sector in the county.
The Natural Capital Challenge Fund is primarily about creating employment and skills and is a new pilot programme to explore how the environment and natural resources of Devon – its Natural Capital – can be used to create jobs.
The fund therefore aims to support, develop and fund a small number of high-quality Natural Capital initiatives that will create employment and training opportunities in Devon. The County Council is looking to fund initiatives such as improvements to biodiversity, tree planting, sustainable use of materials, reducing emissions, and increasing protection from flooding.
We will prioritise projects that:
- create employment
- provide opportunities for acquiring accredited skills
- enhance the natural environment and/or conserve natural resources
- trial a new approach that will help to inform future policy and practice in Devon
Businesses, including social enterprises; charities; and not-for-profit organisations such as community groups can apply for grants up to £50,000.
