Fund title: ESF Lump Sum Grants: Addressing the digital divide in response to coronavirus

Focus of fund/fund aims:

Lump sum payments to deliver ‘bolt-on’ activity to existing ESF projects to enable participants to access the internet

Application deadline:

30 September 2020

Fund description:

Lump sum grants to address digital exclusion are available to organisations that are currently running European Social Fund (ESF) projects. The funding is to be used in response to coronavirus to help ESF participants access the internet.

Applications are invited from organisations to deliver short-term activity to existing ESF participants as a “bolt-on” to the ESF support they are currently receiving. The short-term activity will consist of projects procuring and loaning an appropriate device (e.g. tablet, laptop) and providing a three-month allowance of data, provided via a data dongle, to existing ESF participants. Activity will also include a small amount of set-up support to help users to get online.

Projects can be funded at 100% ESF through this Call. There are no upper or lower financial limits: this will enable smaller, locally based organisations to apply for funding as well as scope for larger-scale projects. Applicants should note that, since it is a ‘lump sum’ fund, they will need to deliver all their proposed outputs in order to draw down the grant.

All activity to enable participants to receive the equipment, any initial set up support, and all expenditure must be completed by 31 December 2020.
