Creative Europe is the EU fund for Europe’s cultural, creative and audiovisual sectors. It provides funding for a broad range of creative, cultural and heritage organisations working across any art form, such as visual arts, dance, theatre, literature, performance, music, heritage, architecture, design, circus, festivals, craft and fashion.
There are two main sub-programmes –
- ‘Media’ for film, TV, new media and video games, including audience development, film distribution and cinema networks
- ‘Culture’ for collaborative projects and initiatives, including festivals, exhibitions, skills development in the cultural sector and literary translation.
A small-scale transnational co-operation project can be set up between 3 partners in 3 different European countries but networks and platforms require partnerships covering at least 10 different countries.
There are various deadlines for the different strands including new calls for:
- Co-operation projects related to the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018 (deadline 22 November 2017)
- Cultural and creative transnational cooperation projects across any art form (deadline 18 January 2018)
UK applicants can find out more about the programme and receive free advice and support with their project from the Creative Europe Desk UK.
Please note that the UK will continue to participate in Creative Europe as normal until it leaves the EU: the Creative Europe Desk UK envisages that UK applicants will be eligible at least until the end of 2018 and the European Commission has confirmed that there is no negative bias against UK applicants. The UK Treasury will underwrite the payments of multi-annual projects selected for support while the UK is still a member of the EU even if the projects continue beyond the UK’s exit from the EU.
