Applications may be made at any time
The Country Houses Foundation (CHF) supports the preservation of buildings of historic or architectural significance together with their gardens and grounds, for the public benefit. The CHF provides grants to organisations or private individuals who have legal responsibility for the repair of a historic building.
Grants are available for the repair and conservation of rural historic buildings and structures, including, where appropriate, their gardens, grounds and outbuildings. The CHF will normally fund listed or scheduled buildings but will also consider unlisted buildings in a conservation area if they are of historic or architectural significance.
Grants are available up to a maximum of £250,000 although most grants are for less than £50,000.
Funding cannot be used for routine maintenance and minor repairs or for work to non-historic fabric or services. Grants are not generally offered to churches or chapels unless linked to a country house or estate.
