It includes employees on permanent and fixed term contracts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The figures are updated once a year and are based on the financial year (data is reported as of 31 March). It includes the:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>total number of employees (permanent and fixed term contracts) at the end of each financial year (31 March annually)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>total full-time equivalent, known as FTE<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">FTE is a way of showing staffing levels based on the hours worked compared to a full-time employee, for example 1.0 FTE equals one full-time employee, while two employees working 0.5 FTE each equal 1.0 FTE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-fixed-layout\"><thead><tr><th scope=\"col\">Financial year<\/th><th scope=\"col\">Total employee headcount<\/th><th scope=\"col\">Total FTE<\/th><\/tr><\/thead><tbody><tr><td>2025\/26<\/td><td>5,429<\/td><td>4,827<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>2024\/25<\/td><td>5,298<\/td><td>4,677<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sickness absence<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This section shows sickness absence levels by financial year.
