{"id":18814,"date":"2025-10-09T14:08:02","date_gmt":"2025-10-09T13:08:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/eycs\/?p=18814"},"modified":"2025-10-14T10:33:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-14T09:33:29","slug":"early-years-funding-meeting-the-requirements-of-the-statutory-guidance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/eycs\/early-years-funding-meeting-the-requirements-of-the-statutory-guidance\/","title":{"rendered":"Early years funding \u2013 meeting the requirements of the statutory guidance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we start the new academic year with the final roll-out of the working entitlements, we want to ensure that all providers are compliant when delivering the early years funding entitlements to families in Devon.<\/p>\n<p>Following the updated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/early-education-and-childcare--2\/early-education-and-childcare-effective-from-1-april-2025#summary\" rel=\"noopener\">Statutory Guidance<\/a> in February we held a number of meetings with providers and have various information on our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/eycs\/for-providers\/business-finance-and-funding\/early-years-funding-updates\/\">updates page<\/a> to support providers with their offer.<\/p>\n<p>The overarching principle is that there cannot be any conditions attached to the funding entitlements that mean parents must access and pay for additional hours or chargeable extras.<\/p>\n<p>This would include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Having a funded session within a day and expecting parents to purchase the hours before and after the session<\/li>\n<li>Insisting on a minimum number of days \/ sessions \/ hours attendance in a week or that certain days are booked as a condition of being offered a funded space<\/li>\n<li>Having charges for consumables and food and not allowing parents to bring in their own items and a packed lunch<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please can we also refer you to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/eycs\/document\/provider-agreement\/#:~:text=Disability%20Access%20Funding.-,Section%204%3A%20Charging%20Parents,-Further%20to%20the\">Section 4: Charging Parents<\/a> in our provider agreement<\/p>\n<p>We have received a number of queries from parent\/carers about opting out of additional charges.
