{"id":18510,"date":"2025-09-04T12:30:48","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T11:30:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/eycs\/?p=18510"},"modified":"2025-09-04T12:35:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T11:35:09","slug":"wraparound-childcare-an-opportunity-for-schools-conference-and-fully-funded-training","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/eycs\/wraparound-childcare-an-opportunity-for-schools-conference-and-fully-funded-training\/","title":{"rendered":"Wraparound childcare &#8211; an opportunity for schools, conference and fully funded training!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>An opportunity for Schools<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019re thrilled to share an exciting opportunity for your school to access wraparound childcare funding \u2014 and it\u2019s one you won\u2019t want to miss!<\/p>\n<p>The government\u2019s ambition is for all families with primary-aged children (Reception to Year 6) to be able to access childcare from 8am to 6pm, five days a week.<br \/>\nDevon has been awarded over \u00a33.5 million to support schools, childminders, and providers in creating or expanding wraparound childcare.<\/p>\n<h3>Why this matters<\/h3>\n<p>This funding helps reduce financial risk for providers, giving parents confidence in reliable childcare and enabling them to work full-time, increase hours, or return to training.<\/p>\n<h3>What\u2019s new? Partial hours funding<\/h3>\n<p>Recognising the challenges of offering full 10-hour wraparound care, especially for smaller or rural schools, the DfE now allows funding for partial hours.<\/p>\n<p><strong>To qualify:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Breakfast clubs must run at least 30 minutes before the school day<\/li>\n<li>After-school clubs must run at least 90 minutes after the school day<\/li>\n<li>Provision must run at least 3 days a week, both before and after school<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How much funding could you get?<\/h3>\n<p>Examples of funding available:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Approx .\u00a316,500 for creating 7.5 hours of new childcare per week (e.g. 2.5 hours\/day x 3 days)<\/li>\n<li>Approx. \u00a337,000 for creating 17.5 hours of new childcare per week (e.g. 3.5 hours\/day x 5 days)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Additional funding available<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Up to \u00a31,350 start-up grant for training, resources, and registration costs<\/li>\n<li>\u00a3200 per new place created for schools already offering wraparound care but want to increase your numbers<\/li>\n<li>Support funding to help existing providers move toward viability, or apply for extra staffing for SEND support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>Funding should:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Meet the needs of local families based on demand<\/li>\n<li>Increase availability of places through new or expanded provision<\/li>\n<li>Ensure consistent availability throughout term-time<\/li>\n<li>Not reduce funding for full wraparound places<\/li>\n<li>Serve as a bridge to full wraparound provision<\/li>\n<li>Be available at least 3 days per week, before and after school<\/li>\n<li>Allow flexibility in delivery, including different providers and locations<\/li>\n<li>Allow exceptions for special schools with shorter hours or fewer days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Delivery options<\/h3>\n<p>Childcare can be delivered on or off the school site. Schools not in a position to run the childcare themselves can invite private providers through an expression of interest process.<\/p>\n<h3>Timescales<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Funding is available for up to five terms, with a review after the first year<\/li>\n<li>All funded childcare <strong>must start before 31st March 2026<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>How to apply<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Applications are simple.
