Devon Early Years and Childcare Service is pleased to let you know that the safeguarding and child protection core (for all early years and childcare practitioners) – eLearning training has been updated in preparation for the updated Early years foundation stage (EYFS) statutory framework<\/a>, which comes into effect on 1st September 2025.<\/p>\n

The eLearning course has been updated to make it more early years focussed. It has been developed alongside Annex C (criteria for effective safeguarding training) of the September 2025 Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework, ensuring early years practitioners are fully prepared to implement the new safeguarding standards.<\/p>\n

The updated eLearning is now available on the Devon Education Services Shop<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If you have recently completed the older version of the eLearning, this will be sufficient.<\/p>\n

The safeguarding and child protection core (for all early years and childcare practitioners) training is also\u00a0available as an online course (virtual delivery by Microsoft Teams) and as an in-person (face to face) course.<\/p>\n

Please note that\u00a0from September 2025\u00a0safeguarding training will need to be updated<\/strong>\u00a0every two years<\/strong>, rather than the current three-year cycle.<\/p>\n

You can book onto an early years and childcare safeguarding course by visiting the Devon Education Services website:\u00a0 Early years, childcare, wraparound childcare advice and training | DES.<\/a><\/p>\n
