Nannies do not have to register with Ofsted but may choose to register on the voluntary part of the Ofsted Childcare Register in order to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reassure parents that they are checked, insured and have had minimum training<\/li>\n<li>enable eligible parents to claim the Childcare Element of Working Families\u2019 Tax Credit.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div><\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\" data-accordion-item>\r\n<a href=\"#mac2\" id=\"head2\" role=\"tab\" class=\"accordion-title\" aria-controls=\"mac2\">How do I apply to go on the voluntary part of the Childcare Register <\/a><div id=\"mac2\" aria-labelledby=\"head2\" class=\"accordion-content\" data-tab-content><div class=\"targetclass\" >\n<p>Visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/childminders-and-childcare-providers-register-with-ofsted\/nannies-registration\" rel=\"noopener\">Ofsted website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/li>\n<li class=\"accordion-item\" data-accordion-item>\r\n<a href=\"#mac3\" id=\"head3\" role=\"tab\" class=\"accordion-title\" aria-controls=\"mac3\">What are the requirements for registration? <\/a><div id=\"mac3\" aria-labelledby=\"head3\" class=\"accordion-content\" data-tab-content><div class=\"targetclass\" >\n<div>Nannies on the Childcare Register must meet the requirements for registration set out by Ofsted in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/childminders-and-childcare-providers-register-with-ofsted\/registration-requirements\" rel=\"noopener\">Early Years and Childcare Registration Handbook.<\/a>\u00a0 These include:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>a first aid qualification appropriate to the ages of the children being cared for which should be renewed every three years<\/li>\n<li>a qualification at a minimum level 2 in an area of work relevant to childcare, or training in the common core skills as set out by Ofsted<\/li>\n<li>Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check<\/li>\n<li>insurance for liability which may be incurred for death, injury, public liability, damage or other loss.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Please note that Devon County Council does not currently run any Common Core training courses.
