The government\u2019s ambition is that by 2026, all parents and carers of primary school-aged children who need it will be able to access term time childcare in their local area from 8am to 6pm, so that parents can access employment and improve labour market participation.\u202f Visit:\u202f <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/wraparound-childcare-guidance-for-schools\" rel=\"noopener\">Wraparound childcare guidance for schools &#8211; GOV.UK<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>You can only complete this application if:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>you have already spoken to your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/eycs\/for-providers\/early-years-and-childcare-adviser-contacts\/\">Early Years &amp; Childcare Advisor<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>you have registered with Ofsted or have a school Unique Reference Number (URN), or are in the process of applying<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please do not complete this form if these do not apply to you<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Applications will be reviewed on a weekly basis.<br>We plan to send a response within 14-21 working days from receipt of the application.<br>While maximising the availability of provision in general, the local authority will consider quality and safety factors when choosing to fund a childcare provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The following organisations are invited to apply:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Schools, (including special schools) and academies<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Private, voluntary, and independent providers and childminders who are working closely with schools<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New providers \u2013 evidence of suitable experience\/registration will be required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"there-are-3-types-of-wraparound-childcare-expansion\">There are 3 types of wraparound childcare expansion<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Creating places\u202f<\/strong>\u2013 where there is currently no provision<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Extending hours\u202for provision<\/strong>&#8211; where you already have some childcare but it does not meet the 8am to 6pm expectation.\u202f\u202fFor example, your ASC only runs till 5pm, and you would be expanding the provision until 6pm, or you already deliver a breakfast club, and you want to develop an after-school club (or vice -versa)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expanding places\u202f<\/strong>\u2013 you already offer wraparound and want to expand capacity. For example, you offer 16 places but want to expand to 24 places.\u202f\u202fFunding can be allocated for the additional places created providing you can show a demand for the increase in numbers<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You can apply for small grants of \u00a3100 per additional place created for either Breakfast or After school club, or both (\u00a3200 per place if you do both before and after school), depending on the number of additional spaces you are creating and the need in the area.\u202f \u202fFor example if you expanded by 10 new places per day for Breakfast and After School care you could receive \u00a32000<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"applications-will-be-prioritised-by-the-following-criteria\">Applications will be prioritised by the following criteria<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Areas where there is currently no wraparound provision linked to the school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Areas where the current provision is not meeting the 8am to 6pm definition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>If you already have existing childcare we CANNOT fund new provision<\/strong>, we can only fund increasing hours to meet the 8am to 6pm criteria (or 5.30pm if there is evidence care is not required until 6pm).\u202f If the current provision is struggling either for quality or finances, we can offer Sustainability funding and business support to help your provision become viable. Please contact your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/eycs\/for-providers\/early-years-and-childcare-adviser-contacts\/\">Early Years Childcare Advisor <\/a>for more information<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are applying for grant funding for developing and\/or extending provision on more than one site, you will need to complete separate applications.\u202f<br><br>If you are planning to provide wraparound provision at one site, but to cater for more than one school, you will need to make this clear in your single application form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For parents to change their work, or training patterns there needs to be reliable childcare available.\u202f We are working on an &#8220;over supply&#8221; of places. By providing the funding we can reduce the financial risk for schools to deliver childcare.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For parents to change their work, or training patterns there needs to be dependable and reliable childcare available, which will not be cancelled if staff are absent, or the weather is bad.\u00a0We are working on an <strong>&#8220;over supply&#8221;<\/strong> of places, meaning we are creating more spaces than initially needed, in the hope that parents will increase use over time by providing the funding, we can reduce the financial risk for schools and providers to deliver childcare.\u00a0<br><br><strong>Priority criteria for funding<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Areas where there is currently no wraparound provision linked to the school<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Areas where the current provision is not meeting the 8am \u2013 6pm definition<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>If you already have existing childcare we CANNOT fund existing provision, unless you are making a change to your hours\/days or number of places you are offering<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Partial provision: In July 2025 DfE agreed we can fund settings for partial childcare provision,<\/strong> especially in areas where there is a lack of demand for five days a week, or small rural schools or areas of deprivation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To qualify for partial funding:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Breakfast provision must start at at least 30 minutes before the school day, or earlier, and run for at least 3 days a week<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>After school provision must run<\/strong> for at<strong> least 90 minutes\u00a0after the close of the school day<\/strong> and\u00a0for at<strong> least 3 days<\/strong>\u00a0a week,\u00a0e.g., if the school closes at 3.30pm the provision must run until at least 5pm.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the current provision is <strong>struggling financially\u00a0<\/strong>or requires<strong> additional staffing <\/strong>to meet the needs of the children, we can offer <strong>support funding<\/strong>, to help your become viable,\u00a0 Apply on a different form;\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/e\/C5xP7hAEGm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">https:\/\/forms.office.com\/e\/C5xP7hAEGm<\/a>;\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"applications-where-funding-would-be-unlikely\">Applications where funding would be unlikely<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Applications will <strong>not <\/strong>be accepted in areas where there is already 8am to 6pm provision, unless exceptional circumstance apply, e.g., the provision is oversubscribed or there are SEND needs that are not able to be met and there is clear evidence that places are required.
