Playwork skills bootcamp
Devon County Council has training available in September for individuals, aged over 19-years-old, who are interested in a career or improving their skills in early years and childcare.
The training suits people who are interested in working in wraparound childcare, like after school clubs and breakfast clubs; and people who may already be working with children.
Is there a cost?
The training is free to individuals, and available at a discount to employers. It’s delivered through a mix of virtual lessons, e-learning and face-to-face meetings, to fit flexibly around work life.
You will learn:
- Understanding Children’s Play: Dive into the importance of play, brain development, and neurodiversity
- Supporting Children’s Play: Discover the role of a playworker, intervention styles, and the voice of the child
- Environments for Play: Learn to create effective play spaces and understand play types
- Mental Health and Wellbeing: Integrate mental health strategies with child development
- Legislation of Play: Gain knowledge about relevant legislation to ensure inclusive play practices
The Skills Bootcamp also covers Safeguarding, Child Protection and Paediatric First Aid certifications.
Skill Bootcamp is available to people in Devon and Torbay, with Right To Work in the UK.
