Operation Encompass for Devon early years: key adult training

For sometime now you have been asking when early years providers will be part of Operation Encompass. The good news is that the plan is to extend Operation Encompass in Devon to early years providers and Children’s Centres in the next few months.

Operation Encompass is where there is a simple telephone call or notification to a school / education provider’s trained Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) /Officer (known as ‘Key Adult’) prior to the start of the next school day after a police attended incident of domestic abuse where there are children related to either of the adult parties involved.

More information on Operation Encompass.

If you would like to be included in Operation Encompass then you will need at least one ‘Key Adult’, usually the DSL, to have completed the Operation Encompass online ‘Key Adult Training’.

In order to be ready for roll out of Operation Encompass to early years we are asking that you complete this training as soon as possible.

We will in the future be requiring proof that your named Key Adults have completed this training so please ensure you download and keep a copy of your certificates.

Operation Encompass also has a FREE National Helpline on 0204 513 9990. Monday to Friday, 8am-1pm, where schools / education providers who are concerned about a child or children in their setting who are experiencing domestic abuse can receive advice from educational psychologist, this is available to all early years providers now.
