Updated to reflect that early years settings can return to normal group sizes. Includes content from the Planning guide so that all information is in one place from now on and the Planning guide is deleted. Guidance also includes updated information about autumn funding, wraparound care, managing requests for site visits for new admissions in September, data collection changes and reporting to Ofsted.

Use of free early education entitlements funding during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

How local authorities can use their dedicated schools grant (DSG) funding differently in exceptional circumstances during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, to ensure they have enough places for children of critical workers and vulnerable children.

This guidance has been updated to set out the government’s plans for funding local authorities and providers in the 2020 autumn term – this is in section 1. The previously published guidance on early years funding is still valid until the beginning of the autumn term – this is in section 2. Section 2 has been updated to clarify that it refers to the period from the beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak until the start of the autumn term, and certain paragraphs have been removed to avoid duplication with other, more up to date guidance.
