Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) 2023 update
The funding round for the Holiday Activities and Food Programme (HAF) 2023 is nearing completion. There will be 62 providers delivering holiday activities and food across Devon for children receiving a benefit related Free School Meal. A range of activities will be available for the primary and secondary age ranges.
Information about these providers and how to apply will be published on our website as soon as the final details are confirmed. We hope it will be on the website by March 3rd.
Providers must offer:
- 4 days during the Easter holidays
- 16 days during the Summer holidays
- 4 days during the Christmas holidays
One day = 4 consecutive hours and must include a nutritious meal.
We will be writing to each parent this year with a unique code. The letters will be sent to schools for them to pass onto eligible families. Parents need to share this code with the HAF provider to book a place. This is a requirement from the Department for Education. Schools will be asked to tell eligible parents when information about the HAF providers is live on the website and to encourage them to book a place.
Places are fully funded. To ensure we reach as many families as possible and make the best use of the funding providers need to speak with parents so that they only book places that they know they will attend.
When parents do not show up for booked places, we could have given another child the opportunity to attend. It is therefore important that parents also let providers know if they cannot use booked places. For these reasons, we are discouraging block bookings.
More information about the extended criteria for children who fall outside of Benefit Related Free School meals is available on the website.
