Healthy start scheme
Key messages for Public Health Nursing Service, Social care and Children Centre Staff:
We are working really hard in partnership with each other and Public Health Devon to ensure that eligible children are receiving the financial element of the Healthy Start scheme as well as being able to access essential vitamins at this challenging time of Covid-19.
Families can now sign up using the online form. They do have to then print it and post it to the Healthy Start distribution unit but there is no need to obtain a Health Professional signature. The Department of work and pensions check eligibility and send out the financial vouchers.
Eligible families include some children from birth up to 4 years, as well as Mums from 10 weeks pregnant to one year postnatal. The vitamins now include vitamin A, C, D.
For eligible families to receive their vitamins via post, families can email their local children centre, confirming they are eligible for Healthy start vitamins by stating this within the email and enclosing their child’s name, DOB and their full postal address. The appropriate childrens centre will then post the vitamins to the family.
The family will need to request these every eight weeks by email:
