COVID-related closure notifications

The Department for Education (DfE) have been made aware by Ofsted that some Early Years settings have not been reporting COVID-related closures to them because they think this is no longer a requirement.

All Early Years providers must notify Ofsted of any confirmed cases in their setting, whether a child or a member of staff. Settings should also tell Ofsted if they have to close as a result of COVID-related issues; this is a legal requirement set out in paragraph 3.52 of the early years foundation stage statutory framework. Any cases should be reported within 14 days. Settings can refer to ‘this guidance’ to ensure that all the required information is included in their notifications.
