Autism Training

Autism Training (Early Years Programme) – Tier 2 for Practitioners

Monday 23 September and Tuesday 24 September 2019 (2 Days)

Passage House Hotel, Hackney Lane, Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot TQ12 3QH

This is a two day course to support all practitioners working directly with children on the autism spectrum.

Course objectives:

  • Enabling practitioners to develop their knowledge and understanding of good autism practice
  • Providing guidelines and activities to help practitioners to improve their practice when caring for or working with a child on the autism spectrum
  • Introducing practitioners to the early years autism competency framework to evaluate and develop how they work

The new SEND Code of Practice specifies that all professionals working in early years education settings should be prepared to support young people on the autism spectrum and all staff should have a basic awareness of autism and the needs of individuals.

Delivered by the highly experienced Babcock LDP Early Years and Autism teams, the AET early years programme offers face-to-face training for professionals working with children under the age of 5.

Developed by the AET, the programme uses a range of teaching tools, such as video and problem-solving scenarios, to develop understanding. This AET programme is supported by the Department for Education.
