AGM’s during the pandemic
Many of our voluntary run settings will be planning their AGM’s (annual general meeting) this term.
Those providers that have a governing document with the Early Years Alliance please take advice from Lawcall as part of your Membership. We are hearing that the advice given to settings is that you respect the social distancing guidelines of 6 people and that where numbers exceed this any additional members would need to join virtually via video chat. Lawcall also say that its a legal requirement for its members to hold their AGM in the time scales of their governing document therefore there is no possibility of delaying the meeting.
Those providers that have not adopted an Early Years Alliance governing document can follow the advice given by The Charity Commission on running AGM’s during the Pandemic.
Our advice would be to risk assess the situation when planning your AGM and follow the government guidelines on social distancing. Consider where you can run the meeting safely with sufficient space for chairs to be 2 metres apart. Where using indoor space ensure face coverings are worn and clean by wiping down chairs and table surfaces that have been used during the meeting.
