30 Hour Funding for Spring Term 2020

Dear Providers,

We are at the start of the Spring 2020 funding period and wish to remind you of some important 30 hour funding requirements.

Please run a check for 30 hour funding on the Provider Portal before offering a 30 hour funded place (or stretched where appropriate).  Ensure that your contracts reflect any hours that are not covered by funding if the child is not eligible and that it is clear what charges will apply.

Any code with a start date from 1st January 2020 will not be funded this term.  When you run a 30 hour check you may get an “Eligible” result but you will have to check the “Eligible From” date and the “Earliest Date to take up a 30 Hours place” in “Review Previous Checks”.  The only exception would be if a new code is issued and that the old code was used last term with a Grace Period up until 31st March 2020.

The deadline of 31st December is set by the DfE and is in line with the date of birth framework for 2 year old and 3 & 4 year old funding.

Any new children who join your setting and have a 30 hour code also need to be checked.  Any child with an “Eligible to” date up to the 31st December will not be able to use their funding if they move settings.  The Grace Period does not apply if their 30 hour eligibility has already ended.

Please find attached our full 30 hour update that was sent last term regarding 30 hour funding for Spring Term 2020.

Kind regards,

Early Years Funding Team
