The modernised Healthy Child Programme will help ensure every child can thrive and achieve – we want all children to be ready to learn at 2, ready for school at 5 and ready for life when they reach adulthood.

Face coverings are being sent to early years group providers and primary schools
In line with Public Health England (PHE) advice, the Department for Education has temporarily extended its policy on the use of face coverings in education and childcare settings, as an additional precautionary measure during this period of high coronavirus (COVID-19) prevalence in the community.

‘Making Every Contact Count’ – effective partnership working for vulnerable children and young people in Devon.
Children’s social care are asking that whenever an early years and childcare provider has regular contact with a child who is known to have an allocated social worker that professionals share the information with children’s social care team using the ‘making every contact count’ form.

Paediatric first aid – make sure your training is up to date
As stated in the Early Years Foundation Stage: coronavirus disapplications, where paediatric first aid training was prevented due to reasons associated directly with COVID-19, certificates were extended to the 31st March 2021. Please make sure your training is up to date.

New requirement by schools to make returns to the DFE about wraparound childcare from March 8th
From today, as part of the educational setting status form, we have asked schools and colleges to provide information on: the number of pupils or students not on site as part of the phased return process, for the settings undertaking lateral flow testing, and for the settings offering onsite wraparound provision; the number of pupils including vulnerable children in wraparound provision, pupils with an education, health and care (EHC) plan or social worker and the number of those who could not be offered a place.
