Latest Update: Colleges, schools and childcare settings during the national lockdown

Month: May 2020

  • Update on PPE pack for providers that are open/re-opening

    The Early Years and Childcare Service have been able to secure through Devon County Council ‘s PPE group, face masks, eye protection, gloves and aprons. These packs are being provided to you until you are able to source your own supplies.

  • Incentivising Funding update

    Please note the closing date for the Incentivising Funding Claim 2 is the 5th June. Only those providers who have been open before the 18th May are eligible to submit claim 3 of the funding.

  • 2 year old eligibility for funded childcare

    With some families returning to childcare from 1st June, please be mindful that if parents have lost jobs, reduced hours etc, that they may now qualify for the 2 year old funding.

  • Sample risk assessment and local guidance

    To help you with your opening plans we have developed a sample risk assessment for you to use and have further information in our local guidance document.

  • DfE returns for vulnerable children

    You will need to still complete the DfE returns daily.

  • COVID:19 tests for the under 5s

    The Government has announced that COVID:19 testing has been extended to include the under fives.

  • Foundation Years vodcast on preparing for wider opening of early years settings

    Foundation Years has hosted a video podcast with the Department for Education (DfE) to share the latest information that providers can use when planning to reopen and answer your questions.

  • Child safety awareness week: 1st – 7th June 2020

    Child Safety Week (1 – 7 June), will look very different this year with lockdown, the Child Accident Prevention Trust are very aware that there have been serious concerns about child safety during this difficult period.

  • NSPCC Coronavirus briefing: safeguarding guidance for early years

    NSPCC Learning has published a briefing summarising government guidance on safeguarding and child protection for early years settings during the coronavirus pandemic.

  • Letter from Val Smith about re-opening provision for all children

    This correspondence has been emailed to all early years and childcare providers.
