General 123: HRMS Awareness Sessions

You will be aware that the Council is implementing a new Human Resources Management System (HRMS). The HRMS provides a range of self-service functionality for managers and employees, including the booking of annual leave, sickness absence recording and pay and contract information updating.

The HRMS is called iTrent which is a commercial system, used by many different public and private sector organisations and is very intuitive to use. We will be running some briefing sessions for schools so that you can understand more about your specific role in the system – bookings are now being taken for dates in late May/early June. Alongside this, we will be providing a range of online materials to help managers and staff to get used to using the system – this will be available and publicised ready for when the system goes live later in the year.

The schools sessions are aimed at headteachers, bursars and other office support/administrative staff, who currently deal with HR-related processes within their school. The sessions will show delegates starters, leavers, staff transfers and staff claims (like travel, expenses, overtime etc).

These sessions are only aimed at those who have a direct report or hold a HR administrative role in school – if you do not have this type of role, you will not need to attend a briefing session as everything you will need to know about using the system will be available via a range of online resources.

Schools can book places on the briefing sessions now via the following links:

Watch out for further information on the online resources, which will be publicised in May.
