The education inclusion team consists of four geographic inclusion officers covering Exeter, east Devon, south and west Devon and north and mid Devon and one education wellbeing adviser covering the county.
Working very closely with headteachers, SENCOs, behaviour leads and other key individuals in school to ensure that children and young people maintain a place in education which allows them to make sound progress in their learning.Our aim
The team works with all maintained schools, academies and free schools both primary and secondary for any child of compulsory school age who is at risk of exclusion or for any child who because of illness would not get a full-time education.

We aim to:
- promote a good inclusive education with high aspirations and excellent outcomes
- support children and young people, carers, schools and settings
- challenge anyone who does not deliver our aspiration for children and young people
- share excellent and inclusive practice which promotes inclusion.
To deliver this we will:
- ensure that a full-time school place is available for every child
- understand, support and promote the voice of the child or young person
- promote and support full-time attendance and reduce the time away from school
- work with other key professionals to get the very best for children and young people referred to our service
- ensure educational continuity and consistency, working to ensure any transition between schools is a smooth as possible and that interruption to learning is minimised
- champion and strengthen greater understanding, better communication channels and effective working between all professionals involved
- ensure that children and young people who are unable to attend school because of illness receive suitable education to meet their health needs.
