New provider for children’s community health services
As you may know, an alliance of local NHS providers was successful in its bid to provide community health services for children, young people and their families across Devon. The alliance will be taking over the contract from Virgin Care Limited on 1 April 2019 and is led by Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust in partnership with Devon Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust, Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust and Livewell Southwest.
Our initial focus is on ensuring there is a smooth and safe transfer of services to the new provider and in order to do this we will not be making any initial changes. Services will continue to operate in their current format, provided from the same locations and staff. Referrals for children and young people will be received in exactly the same way as now.
From 1 April 2019 the new service will be known as Children and Family Health Devon and you will see this name on any communications. The website for the service will provide the same information as the current Virgin Care website/Torbay and South Devon FT website but will have a new address – www.childrenandfamilyhealthdevon.nhs.uk and it will have the branding of the new organisation. It can be accessed from 1 April 2019.
Please note you will not be able to access the Virgin Care website for information from 1 April 2019. For services provided in Torbay the CAMHS website will remain the same www.torbayandsouthdevon.nhs.uk/services/camhs/
In the coming months and years we will be working with children, young people and families, as well as our stakeholders, to implement the vision and associated changes based on the feedback we have received from children, young people and their families. Our vision is to build on the integration of services with a greater focus on prevention and early intervention. We have produced a short animation that explains our vision which you can watch here.
As we move forward we want to involve as many people as possible in developing services towards this vision including children, young people and their families, staff and stakeholders, such as yourselves, to make sure we work towards and achieve the vision.
Thank you and we look forward to working with you in the future.
