New Special Schools in Devon – update

Charlton Lodge Tiverton

The new special school in Tiverton is currently being built and due to be complete in time for the new school year, September 2019 . The final bit of the jigsaw to open the school is the Funding Agreement between ACE (who will run the school) and the Government. The Funding Agreement is a legal document that means the school is officially recognised by the Government and therefore can start accepting learners. Glendinning Newton Abbot

This new special school is about a year behind Charlton Lodge but Devon has now agreed terms with the Department for Education for them to build the school on land in Devon’s ownership. The Department for Education are building the school and are in the process of putting in a planning application. The Funding Agreement, the same as Charlton Lodge, will need to be completed before the school can officially offer places and this should be completed in good time for the school to open in 2020.
