SEN Funding update
I am writing to all parents, carers and schools, because I want to be absolutely clear about the changes the County Council is making regarding assessment processes and funding for SEN. A briefing letter I wrote to head teachers before the end of term has been widely misinterpreted and has led to a great deal of concern.
I can only apologise for any anxiety this has caused you. The letter was intended to give schools as much notice as possible of future changes. School staff use part of their summer to prepare for the new term. Appropriate communication with parents was planned for September as part of the transition process.
The letter has led to a number of misunderstandings, especially with regard to funding.
