Free course available for parents of children with challenging behaviour

A free online course is soon to be available for parents of children with challenging behaviour.

Organised by the Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, the HOPE Programme (Help Overcoming Problems Effectively) is based on a course developed by the University of Coventry to help people cope better with long-term medical conditions – including mental health issues such as anxiety, stress and depression.

The wider programme helps you to focus on you as a person, not as a long-term condition, helping you to discover new strengths and rediscover old ones to keep yourself well. It also aims to boost your self-confidence and resilience, to help you cope better emotionally, psychologically and practically with your condition.

Face-to-face courses have been suspended during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, but virtual courses are still taking place – one of which tackles how parents of children with challenging behaviour can better cope with those behaviours. The specific dates of the course are still to be confirmed, but if you’re interested in attending please register your interest using the online form on the HOPE website.
