Champions for Change – April meeting update

Champions for Change is the voice of all children and young people in Devon who need extra help with their learning. The group is run by young people with SEND for young people with SEND.

We held our latest monthly meeting on 30 April. In it, we discussed environmental issues including plastic pollution and how we can reduce litter. We also asked if any of you might like to speak with Ofsted Inspectors in the coming weeks about your experiences of support and school.

In our next meeting, at the end of May, we will be discussing about language that is used with and about young people with SEND – exploring what words we do and don’t like – as well as finalising plans for litter-pick in June.

We’ve added a PowerPoint presentation to our page so that you can learn more about we got up to in the meeting. We’ll add notes from all our sessions to the bottom of the Champions for Change page, so you can stay up-to-date with the group’s latest activities.

If you or anyone you know is interested in joining a group run for young people with SEND by young people with SEND, please get in touch!

Finally, a big thank you to Jabir for doing an excellent interview of the temporary Champions for Change worker. Sadly, we were not able to give that person the job, but we will keep working to get the best person possible!
