{"id":5111,"date":"2023-12-15T11:15:31","date_gmt":"2023-12-15T11:15:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/economy\/?page_id=5111"},"modified":"2023-12-15T11:58:08","modified_gmt":"2023-12-15T11:58:08","slug":"our-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/economy\/employment-inward-investment\/devon-recovery-fund\/our-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"Our Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018Our Opportunities\u2019 were projects driving a green and inclusive recovery and setting a renewed future economic direction for people, communities, business, and the whole economy.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Devon Recovery Fund  - Our Opportunities\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/N8GTbhf9UX8?wmode=transparent&amp;rel=0&amp;feature=oembed&#038;rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h2>Impact<\/h2>\n<p>The impact of the &#8216;Our Opportunities&#8217; projects included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Supporting the inception of 38 new business ventures by young people<\/li>\n<li>Improvements in water courses, biodiversity net gain, and reduced pesticide usage<\/li>\n<li>Carbon avoiding 10724 tonnes of CO2<\/li>\n<li>Creating 20 new ventures for young people<\/li>\n<li>127 green training places<\/li>\n<li>Engaging 100 young people in start up opportunities<\/li>\n<li>4208 young people participating in innovation workshop<\/li>\n<li>Saving 3.6 tonnes of waste from landfill, and recycled 5 EV batteries<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Green Innovation Fund<\/h2>\n<p>The Green Innovation Fund was a competitive grant scheme run by Devon County Council and invested \u00a3950,000 into innovative projects and technologies, driving green growth in Devon\u2019s economy and supporting local enterprises.<\/p>\n<p>The grants helped support Devon\u2019s transition to a Net Zero economy by creating economic growth alongside environmental benefits.<\/p>\n<h3>Green Innovation projects<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Bideford Bay Seaweed Farm by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.algapelago.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Algapelago Marine Ltd<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Circular Carbon Project by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/findyourbirds.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Bird Eyewear<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Cylo\u00ae by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/remitzero.co.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Remit Zero Ltd<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/devonenergycic.co.uk\/our-projects\/decarbonise-devon\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Decarbonise Devon<\/a>by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/epgroup.com\/what-we-do\/consultancy\/esco-in-a-box-a-decarbonisation-solution-for-smes\/\" rel=\"noopener\">EPConnect<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Marine Zero Emission Propulsion by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.evparts.co.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">EVParts Ltd<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Recycling Used EV Batteries by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/altilium-metals.com\/electric-vehicle-battery-recycling\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Altilitech Ltd<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Wilder Farming for Wider Gains by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/farmwilder.co.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Farm Wilder CIC<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe are on a voyage to build this into an industry &#8211; not simply a company.
