{"id":1263,"date":"2024-05-22T12:25:30","date_gmt":"2024-05-22T11:25:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.devon.gov.uk\/dsva\/information-for-professionals\/safeguarding\/"},"modified":"2024-05-22T12:25:30","modified_gmt":"2024-05-22T11:25:30","slug":"safeguarding","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/dsva\/information-for-professionals\/safeguarding\/","title":{"rendered":"Safeguarding"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are you concerned about an adult or a vulnerable adult?&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A vulnerable adult is a person &#8216;who is or may be in need of community care services by reason of mental or other disability, age or illness,&nbsp;and who is or may be unable to take care of him or herself,&nbsp;or unable to protect him or herself against significant harm or exploitation&#8217;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you see, hear or suspect a vulnerable adult is being abused in any way, you must tell someone about it as soon as possible by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/adult-social-care\/safeguarding\/\">contacting Adult Social Care<\/a>.\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If anybody is at immediate risk, contact the police on 999.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Are you concerned about a child or young person?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are worried about the safety or wellbeing of a child or young person in Devon, please use the online referral form on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devonscp.org.uk\/keeping-children-safe\/multi-agency-safeguarding-hub-in-devon\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Devon Safeguarding Children Partnership website<\/a>.
