The County Council is made up of 60 County Councillors (known as Members) whom you elect every four years. The County Council is the overall policymaking body, although a great deal of the detailed work is left to Committees or in some cases smaller groups of members.<\/p>\n
The Council meets 5\u00a0times a year, at County Hall, Exeter.\u00a0Meetings of the full Council are held to consider and approve\u00a0the decisions or recommendations of Committees. The\u00a0County Council is responsible for setting the overall policy\u00a0framework and for deciding the level of each year\u2019s Council\u00a0Tax.<\/p>\n
The Council meeting in February also agrees the budget\u00a0and sets the Council Tax for the following year. Meetings of\u00a0the County Council are held in the Council Chamber at\u00a0 County Hall.\u00a0The meetings are quite structured with each member having\u00a0their own seat.<\/p>\n
A seating plan is published with the agenda so that you can see who is who. Copies of the agenda and\u00a0order paper that list the matters to be discussed are available\u00a0at the meeting.<\/p>\n
