Transfer the freehold of part of Sparkwell Playing Field to Sparkwell Parish Council
DCC is in the process of transferring a former playing field at Sparkwell to a Free School on the instructions of the Secretary of State for Education. The majority of the site can be transferred directly to the Free School using the existing authority for academy leases. However there is very small strip of land which abuts the village hall which is owned by the parish council. The combined area will also be leased to the Free School and will be the site of the new school building which will also double as a new community hall for the village.
To avoid the complexities that arise in drafting a lease that deals with a building which straddles land in two separate ownerships it has been agreed that DCC will transfer the freehold of this strip to the Parish Council so that the lease for the building is with one entity only.
