Officer Decisions

Joint Associate Director of Commissioning - Tim Golby

Summary of Matter or Issue Requiring Decision:

Decision to extend the contract for CP764-11 – Dementia Support Service including the Memory Service Development variation.

Decision Taken:

To extend for a period of one year from 01/01/16 until 31/12/16 with the following organisation:

Alzheimer’s Society

Summary of Reason(s) for Decision Taken:

To allow broader consideration of the strategic context and explore opportunities to develop a more integrated approach with partners, including potential single accountable provider models.

Summary of Alternatives or Options considered and rejected:

To end the contract.  This was rejected as would leave vulnerable people and their families without access to much needed services.

To extend for 6 months.  This was rejected as this would not allow sufficient time to explore strategic options.

To procure the service through other avenues available via Health colleagues.  Rejected due to initial complexities.

Details of any conflict of interest and dispensation granted to the Officer taking the decision or by any Member of the Council in delegating responsibility for any specific express delegation:

There are no known conflicts of interest applicable to the contract extension.
