COVID-19 Fund: Open again from 11 January 2021
Devon County Council has again reopened the COVID-19 Fund to provide flexible resources to organisations working with communities who are disproportionately impacted by coronavirus.
Applications are accepted from voluntary and community sector organisations, social enterprises, town and parish councils, charities and businesses. Find out more about the Fund and apply.
Financial hardship funds
Devon County Council has allocated one million pounds in grant funding to support people who need short-term emergency assistance to afford basic living essentials. The funding is being administered by the district councils who will provide small grants to people who need help. Contact your district council or refer to the list of grant schemes.

Support from local organisations
Heart of the South West Growth Hub
The Growth Hub is the business advice service for Devon, Plymouth, Torbay and Somerset.
District councils in Devon are administering the Local Restrictions Support Grants and Lockdown Grants for businesses forced to close during the current national lockdown.
Devon Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund
Devon Community Foundation has set up the Devon Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund to raise funds for local charitable groups that are supporting the most vulnerable people affected by the outbreak of coronavirus. CURRENTLY PAUSED.
East Devon Coronavirus Community Food Fund
Grants between £500 and £2,500 for projects related to providing food to residents of east Devon who are in food poverty during Covid-19.
Exeter COVID-19 Community Action Fund
Will support groups and organisations with a one-off grant of up to £1,000 to support projects for community-led activities.
Grants for businesses
Heart of the South West Growth Hub
Businesses should visit the Heart of the South West Growth Hub for advice and information on any financial support, including details of the Government schemes for businesses and the self-employed.

The district and borough councils in Devon are administering the Local Restrictions Support Grants and Lockdown Grants for businesses forced to close during the current national lockdown:

Government schemes and other funds for businesses
Bounce Back Loan Scheme
Loans up to £50,000, with no repayments, fees or interest for the first 12 months, for SMEs negatively affected by coronavirus. Apply by 31 January 2021
BT Small Business Support Scheme
BT is introducing new measures to help small businesses boost their connectivity, cash flow and confidence, including bursaries for tech start-ups and subsidised ultrafast internet connections
Community Business Renewal Fund
Grants to enable community businesses to adapt, renew and rebuild their business so that they can remain financially viable. Apply by 3 March 2021
Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme – extension
Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) – also known as the Furlough scheme – will remain open until the end of April 2021, with employees receiving 80% of their current salary for hours not worked, up to a maximum of £2,500
Financial support for apprenticeships
New payments for businesses taking on apprentices
Convertible loans for innovative UK companies that have the potential to grow but are currently affected by COVID-19. Apply by 31 January 2021
A £2 billion fund to create 6-month work placements aimed at those aged 16 to 24 who are on Universal Credit and are deemed to be at risk of long-term unemployment
Lockdown Grants for businesses
Businesses that have been required to close due to the national lockdown as of 5 January 2021 may be eligible for a one-off grant of up to £9,000. Refer to your district council for details.
Local Restrictions Support Grant
Grants for businesses that have been forced to close their premises during the second national lockdown from 5 November to 2 December 2020. Refer to your District Council for details or your local LRSG scheme.
Self Employment Income Support Scheme Grant Extension
Grants for self-employed people who have a loss of earnings due to coronavirus. The scheme has been extended until April 2021 and includes an increased grant to cover losses incurred from 1 November 2020 until 31 January 2021.
Zoo Animals Fund
Grants for zoos and aquariums requiring additional support with caring for their animals following a reduction in income caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Apply by 29 January 2021

Allchurches Trust: Hope Beyond
Grants to help churches and Christian charities and the communities they support to adapt to the challenges and opportunities presented by the Coronavirus pandemic
Big Society Capital
A £25 million Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund to provide social enterprises and charities with emergency loans with no fees or interest for 12 months. Apply by 31 January 2021
Community Radio Fund
Emergency cash funding to support licensed community radio stations facing severe financial difficulty due to the coronavirus outbreak. Apply by 14 January 2021
National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF)
Emergency funding for charities and voluntary organisations facing acute financial difficulties or providing support for people and communities affected by COVID-19.
Seafarers UK: COVID-19 Emergency Fund
Organisations delivering services to seafarers and their families can apply for emergency funding to help them to continue to offer support

Grants for schools
Technology support for children and young people
Local authorities, academy trusts and schools can apply for digital devices for disadvantaged children in certain year groups who are affected by disruption to face-to-face education at their school, or have been advised to shield because they are clinically extremely vulnerable.

Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants
The programme is re-opening to help fund individual artists and a broad range of arts organisations including museums and libraries
Authors’ Emergency Fund
Professional authors who are resident in the UK or British subjects – including all types of writers, illustrators, literary translators, scriptwriters, poets, journalists and others.
Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage
Grants to support cultural organisations with the costs they will face as they welcome back visitors later in 2021. Apply by 26 January 2021
Support for Theatre Professionals during Coronavirus
A collection of funds and sources of advice or support for those in the theatre industry. Funds are available from institution specific funders and from those that support the wider industry.
Grants for sports organisations
Sport England: Return to Play
A set of three grant schemes to help sports clubs and organisations to put in place measures to help people take part in sports and physical activities in a coronavirus-safe way
Get Fishing Fund
Grants up to £5,000 to support projects that will run safe angling participation events throughout 2021. Apply by 12 March 2021
