Support from Devon County Council

COVID-19 Prompt Action Fund (currently paused)
Devon County Council has launched the COVID-19 Prompt Action Fund to provide flexible resources to organisations working with communities who are disproportionately impacted by coronavirus and the social and economic consequences of this outbreak. Applications are accepted from voluntary- and community-sector organisations, social enterprises, town and parish councils, charities and businesses.

Financial Hardship Funds
Devon County Council has allocated one million pounds in grant funding to support people who need short-term emergency assistance to afford basic living essentials. The funding is being administered by the District Councils who will provide small grants to people who need help. Contact your District Council or refer to the list of grant schemes

Heart of the South West Growth Hub
The Growth Hub is the business advice service for Devon, Plymouth, Torbay and Somerset.

Growth Support Kickstart Grant Scheme
Small grants to help businesses to recover from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. This grant includes money from the government’s Kickstarting Tourism package. CURRENTLY PAUSED

District Councils in Devon can advise on support for businesses in their area:

Devon Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund
Devon Community Foundation has set up the Devon Coronavirus Response and Recovery Fund to raise funds for local charitable groups that are supporting the most vulnerable people affected by the outbreak of coronavirus.

East Devon Coronavirus Community Food Fund
Grants between £500 and £2,500 for projects related to providing food to residents of east Devon who are in food poverty during Covid-19. CURRENTLY PAUSED

Exeter COVID-19 Community Action Fund
Will support groups and organisations with a one-off grant of up to £1,000 to support projects for community-led activities.

Grants for health and care workers

COVID-19 Care Workers Crisis Grants
Care Workers are at the frontline of the coronavirus crisis, caring for society’s most vulnerable and most susceptible to the disease. If a care worker needs to self-isolate, they could fall into desperate need. Apply for a grant or donate.

Cavell Nurses Trust
Additional funding for grants designed to help healthcare assistants, nursing and midwifery professionals with their living costs like rent and utility bills has now been made available.

Grants for charities and community organisations

Allchurches Trust: Hope Beyond
Grants to help churches and Christian charities and the communities they support to adapt to the challenges and opportunities presented by the Coronavirus pandemic

Asda Foundation: COVID-19 Grants
Grants for health-care providers and homeless shelters to purchase toiletries for their residents; and grants for groups that help to provide meals for children during the school holidays

Big Society Capital
Support, adjustments to existing funding and a new £25 million Resilience and Recovery Loan Fund to provide social enterprises and charities with emergency loans with no fees or interest for 12 months

Comic Relief COVID-19 Community Grant
Grants up to £4,000 to support local grassroots organisations to respond to the needs of vulnerable individuals, families and communities during the COVID-19 crisis and recover from the impact that COVID-19 has had on their services

Community Justice Fund
Grants up to £75,000 to help specialist social welfare legal advice organisations to be effective and sustainable in the face of responding to COVID-19. Apply by 18 Sept 2020

COVID-19 Digital Response
Emergency funding and support with digital technologies to help not-for-profit organisations to adapt their services for vulnerable communities and share what they learn

The Fore RAFT Transition Fund
Grants of up to £15,000 to help high-impact small charities and social enterprises recover from the crisis, move toward becoming sustainable, and adjust to the post-coronavirus world. Register on 21 September 2020

LGBT+ Futures
Grants to support non-profit groups, organisations or projects working with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans + (LGBT+) people in need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic

Morrisons Foundation: COVID-19 Homeless Support Fund
Registered charities working directly with homeless people can apply for grants of up to £10,000 to provide outreach and support for rough sleepers, services in hostels/shelters, and information and advice

National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF)
Emergency funding for charities and voluntary organisations facing acute financial difficulties or providing support for people and communities affected by COVID-19.

Seafarers UK: COVID-19 Emergency Fund
Organisations delivering services to seafarers and their families can apply for emergency funding to help them to continue to offer support

Social Enterprise Support Fund
Grants for social enterprises that are supporting people at high health risk from COVID-19, and those supporting people facing increased social and economic challenges as a result of COVID-19. Apply by 17 September 2020

Tesco Bags of Help COVID-19 Communities Fund
A new short-term fund to support local communities: the fund will provide a single payment award of £500 to organisations that are supporting vulnerable groups during the coronavirus crisis. Apply by 18 September 2020

Grants for individuals and families

District Councils in Devon are providing small emergency grants to people in financial hardship as a result of COVID-19:

BBC Children in Need Emergency Essentials Programme
Emergency funding to provide items or services to meet the basic needs of children and young people in exceptionally difficult circumstances

Fashion & Textile Children’s Trust
Grants to help parents and carers who have worked in the UK fashion or textile industry and whose household income has reduced as a result of the coronavirus outbreak

Hope for the Young: COVID-19 Emergency Fund
Grants up to £250 to support vulnerable young refugees or asylum seekers. FUND PAUSED.

Grants for businesses

Businesses should visit the Heart of the South West Growth Hub for advice and information on any financial support, including details of the Government schemes for businesses and the self-employed.

BT Small Business Support Scheme
BT is introducing new measures to help small businesses boost their connectivity, cash flow and confidence, including bursaries for tech start-ups and subsidised ultrafast internet connections

Financial support for apprenticeships
New payments for businesses taking on apprentices

Future Fund
Convertible loans for innovative UK companies that have the potential to grow but are currently affected by COVID-19

Kickstart Scheme
A £2 billion fund to create 6-month work placements aimed at those aged 16 to 24 who are on Universal Credit and are deemed to be at risk of long-term unemployment

Social Enterprise Support Fund
Grants for social enterprises that are supporting people at high health risk from COVID-19, and those supporting people facing increased social and economic challenges as a result of COVID-19. Apply by 17 September 2020

Zoo Animals Fund
Grants for zoos and aquariums requiring additional support with caring for their animals following a reduction in income caused by the coronavirus pandemic. Apply by 16 November 2020

Grants for schools

Technology support for children and young people
Local authorities, academy trusts and schools can apply for digital devices for disadvantaged children in certain year groups who are affected by disruption to face-to-face education at their school, or have been advised to shield because they are clinically extremely vulnerable

Grants for the arts, culture and heritage

Art Fund: Response & Reimagine Grants
Funding to support public museums, galleries, libraries and other cultural and heritage centres usually open to the public

Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants
The programme is re-opening to help fund individual artists and a broad range of arts organisations including museums and libraries

Authors’ Emergency Fund
Professional authors who are resident in the UK or British subjects – including all types of writers, illustrators, literary translators, scriptwriters, poets, journalists and others.

Culture Recovery Fund for independent cinemas
Government grants to support independent cinemas to recover from the impact of COVID-19 and to re-open safely. Apply by 30 October 2020

Support for Theatre Professionals during Coronavirus
A collection of funds and sources of advice or support for those in the theatre industry. Funds are available from institution specific funders and from those that support the wider industry.

Theatre Reopening Fund
Grants of up to £5,000 to help not-for-profit theatres across the UK to make Covid-19-related adaptions and prepare for reopening

Grants for sports organisations

Sport England: funding & flexibility
A package of £195 million of funding to help the sport and physical activity sector during the coronavirus outbreak. COMMUNITY EMERGENCY FUND PAUSING FROM 14 MAY 2020
