You can also read about what we achieved as part of the Make Your Mark result from 2025 &#8211; <strong>Places to Go, Things to Do<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2025 &#8211; Places to Go, Things to Do<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">More than 30 schools and youth groups hosted ballots, with 7,160 young people across Devon casting a vote.<br><br>The three top voted issues were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Places to go and things to do \u2013 <strong>1,449 votes<\/strong> (20%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mental health support \u2013 <strong>1,173<\/strong> (16%)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Public transport \u2013 <strong>957<\/strong> (13%)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/child-family-support\/young-people\/youth-voice-and-participation\/participation-strategy\/priorities\/mym-2025\/\">The full breakdown of results can be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What did we do in response to this?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After months of peer research to find out why this issue was important to you, we presented our findings to professionals and County Councillors at our <strong>Youth Voice Saturday event.<\/strong> During this event, we set up specific focus groups to work on the main areas that needed attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of the things we acheived were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Creating the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/child-family-support\/young-people\/places-to-go-things-to-do-whats-on-where\/\">Places to Go, Things to Do Grant Fund<\/a> to give out <strong>\u00a3160,000 to over 130 different youth organisations across the county.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Meeting with Stagecoach and other decision makers to discuss the <strong>cost and accessibility of public transport.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Working with outdoor education and leisure providers to <strong>improve accessibility and inclusion<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Starting work on a Devon Youth Directory, a <strong>central space to discover what\u2019s on in your local area.<\/strong> This is still a work in progress, and we\u2019re currently preparing for a big launch in 2027!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finally, <strong>supporting new and existing Youth Town Councils<\/strong> to strengthen local youth voice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2024 &#8211; Mental Health<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2024, Make Your Mark was run on a national level by the British Youth Council, you can see the details of the national results in the link below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside this national ballot, we also asked young people to vote on what they thought the top issue was <strong>in Devon specifically<\/strong>, and since the British Youth Council&#8217;s closure in 2024 (after the vote), we decided to keep running Make Your Mark independently in Devon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over 30 schools and youth groups signed up and took part, with 2,780 young people voting in Make Your Mark and the Devon ballot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The three top voted issues (in Devon) were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Mental Health<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Vaping<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Activities and Opportunities<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/child-family-support\/young-people\/youth-voice-and-participation\/participation-strategy\/priorities\/mym-2024\/\">The full breakdown of results, both Devon-specific and national, can be found here.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Below you&#8217;ll find a breakdown of the results from our previous Mark Your Mark votes.
