So \u2018dyslexia\u2019 means literally \u2018difficulty with words\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>The definition that Devon currently uses:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dyslexia is evident when accurate and fluent reading and or spelling develops very incompletely or with great difficulty.&nbsp; This focuses on literacy learning at the \u201cword level\u201d and implies that the problem is severe and persistent despite appropriate learning opportunities.&nbsp; It provides the basis for a staged process of assessment through learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(British Psychological Society 1999)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Devon SpLD (Dyslexia) Service<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/support-schools-settings\/send\/areas-of-need\/cognition-and-learning\/devon-spld\/\">Devon SpLD (Dyslexia) Service<\/a> is a team of qualified and experienced specialist SpLD (Dyslexia) teachers, who work in partnership with schools, staff, individual children and their families across Devon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They offer assessments and consultations to support, advise and guide schools and parents to support children and young people with severe and persistent specific literacy difficulties.
