{"id":467,"date":"2020-12-03T10:13:46","date_gmt":"2020-12-03T10:13:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/beta.devon.gov.uk\/educationandfamilies\/?page_id=467"},"modified":"2026-02-23T08:47:46","modified_gmt":"2026-02-23T08:47:46","slug":"other-financial-support","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/send-local-offer\/money\/other-financial-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Support from national organisations and charities"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>There are several charities and national organisations that provide grants, specialist equipment, or other help and support for children and young people with SEND.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CEA Card<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The CEA Card is a national scheme developed for UK cinemas by the UK Cinema Association (UKCA) which:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>allows disabled cinema guests to receive a complimentary ticket for someone to go with them<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>helps cinemas make sure they support their disabled guests properly<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who this is for<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can apply if your child is aged five or older and receives any of these benefits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>disability living allowance (DLA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>attendance allowance (AA)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>personal independence payment (PIP).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Or they are registered as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>severely sight impaired (formerly registered blind)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>sight impaired (formerly partially sighted).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find out more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ceacard.co.uk\/eligibility\" rel=\"noopener\">CEA Card and how to apply<\/a> on the CEA Card website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Grants or help with specialist equipment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Caudwell Trust<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.caudwellchildren.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Caudwell Trust<\/a> provides a wide range of specialist mobility equipment and sensory equipment for disabled and autistic children and young people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Children Today<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.childrentoday.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Children Today<\/a> support children and young people with disabilities by providing adapted equipment to help them and their families live less isolated lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CHIPS<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chipscharity.org\/\" rel=\"noopener\">CHIPS<\/a> is the charity of the casino and gaming industry and provides specialised powered wheelchairs for children and young people with varying disabilities. It will only fund powered wheelchairs not provided by the NHS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">CrackerJacks Children&#8217;s Trust<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.crackerjacks.org.uk\/downloads\" rel=\"noopener\">CrackerJacks Children\u2019s Trust<\/a> provides grants to disabled children and young people throughout the UK. It\u2019s able to offer grants between \u00a3250 and \u00a31,000 towards specialised equipment. This might include a specialised wheelchair, bikes and trikes and sensory toys. The charity also has a respite home near Bream Sands in Somerset called &#8220;Ray\u2019s Sunshine Holiday Home&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disabled Facilities Grants<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You could get a grant from your council if you\u2019re disabled and need to make changes to your home. In Devon these grants are provided by your local District, Borough or City Council.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/send-local-offer\/money\/disabled-facilities-grants\/\">Find out more about Disabled Facilities Grants.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Disability Grants<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.disability-grants.org\/assistive-technology-grants.html\" rel=\"noopener\">Disability Grants<\/a> provide computer and assistive technology grants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity is-style-wide\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Family Fund<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.familyfund.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Family Fund<\/a> is the UK\u2019s largest charity providing grants for families raising disabled or seriously ill children and young people.
