All children should have access to a broad and balanced curriculum, and be able to achieve their academic potential as a valued part of the school community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All schools and settings&nbsp;must:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>prevent discrimination and promote equality<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>make reasonable adjustments for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>support pupils with medical conditions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support for all pupils<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All children and young people are entitled to an education that enables them to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>achieve their best<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>become confident individuals living fulfilling lives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>make a successful transition into adulthood, whether into employment, further education or training<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Working with schools and groups of parents and young people, we have created an<a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/support-schools-settings\/ordinarily-available-inclusive-provision\/#oaief\"> Ordinarily Available Inclusive Education Framework<\/a> which describes the sort of support that all Devon schools, early years, and post-16 settings should be able to provide all children and young people, including those with SEND. The framework is based the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/teachers-standards\" rel=\"noopener\">teaching standards<\/a> and guidance from the Department for Education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support for pupils who need more help<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Some children and young people have SEND, and will need additional support to make progress and achieve their potential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>If you think your child needs extra help with their learning or development, the first thing to do is to speak to their school or college.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button is-style-dcc-nostyle-button\"><a onclick=\"dataLayer.push({&amp;apos;buttonEvent&amp;apos;: &amp;apos;Information page&amp;apos;});\" class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/send-local-offer\/education-and-learning\/how-will-school-support-my-child\/send-support-in-school\/\">Further information about SEND support in schools<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We want all children to attend, engage and thrive in their education setting.
