The approach is based on research involving children and young people with SEND and their families.\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Four Cornerstones has been adopted nationally and Genuine Partnerships works with <a href=\"https:\/\/contact.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Contact<\/a> (a charity for families with disabled children) to deliver training in local areas. \u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Four Cornerstones tell us how children and young people with SEND, and their families, should be treated whenever they connect with a support service in Devon County Council, the NHS, or a school<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They were developed with parents, carers and young people, and are now being used in Devon to help rebuild trust, strengthen relationships and create more positive experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through this approach, we want to improve the way that we:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h2 id=\"welcome\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Welcome and care<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bYou feel comfortable, treated kindly, and your concerns are taken seriously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Value and include<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bYour views matter and you are involved in decisions that affect you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Communicate<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bPeople explain things clearly, listen well and keep you updated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Work in partnership<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u200bEveryone works together, with you, to plan the right support.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"483\" height=\"169\" src=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/170\/2026\/05\/image.png\" alt=\"Devon&apos;s Four Cornerstones logo\" class=\"wp-image-74490\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/170\/2026\/05\/image.png 483w, https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/170\/2026\/05\/image-300x105.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Share your experiences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Families can share their experiences after any connection with us by saying how things felt against the Four Cornerstones.
