It&#8217;s important though that you make sure you use it safely, and don&#8217;t put yourself in danger. Here are some tips:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Be careful about what you share online<\/strong>. Use privacy settings and report any bullying or inappropriate behaviour.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use strong passwords<\/strong>. Try not to use passwords that can be easily guessed. Don&#8217;t use the same password for different log-ins, and never share your password with anyone else. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Set up <strong>2-factor authentication<\/strong> where you can. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Protect your online reputation<\/strong>. Think before you post. Content posted online can be around for ever, and may be shared by anyone.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Don&#8217;t give in to pressure<\/strong>. If someones asks you to do something you aren&#8217;t sure about, or don&#8217;t feel comfortable with, stop and think. Once you press send you can&#8217;t take it back.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Respect the law<\/strong>. Know how to legally access music, film or TV. Make sure you give credit if you are using content produced by others. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Check your facts<\/strong>! Although there&#8217;s a world of useful information available, there&#8217;s also a lot of fake information too. Don&#8217;t take everything you read at face value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">More information<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are lots of organisations that can help with information on staying safe online:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nspcc.org.uk\/keeping-children-safe\/online-safety\/\" rel=\"noopener\">NSPCC<\/a> &#8211; information and tips on how to keep children safe online<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.familylives.org.uk\/advice\/bullying\" rel=\"noopener\">Family Lives has lots of advice about bullying<\/a>, including what to do if you are being bullied on social media<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.childline.org.uk\/info-advice\/bullying-abuse-safety\/online-mobile-safety\/staying-safe-online\/\" rel=\"noopener\">ChildLine<\/a> &#8211; advice on online bullying and keeping your devices safe<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saferinternet.org.uk\/advice-centre\/young-people\" rel=\"noopener\">UK Safer Internet Centre<\/a> &#8211; advice for staying safe online<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The internet can be a great place &#8211; to socialise, get creative, explore your interests and find out useful information.
