{"id":20066,"date":"2024-08-14T14:25:25","date_gmt":"2024-08-14T13:25:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/?page_id=20066"},"modified":"2026-04-14T13:49:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-14T12:49:08","slug":"independent-schools","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/send-local-offer\/education-and-learning\/choose-a-school\/independent-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Independent schools"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Devon County Council will only place children and young people in independent special schools when an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devon.gov.uk\/children-families-education\/send-local-offer\/education-health-and-care-plans\/\">education, health and care plan (EHCP) is in place<\/a>, typically during phase transfers (for example, primary to secondary) when no suitable maintained or academy setting can meet the child&#8217;s needs.
