These tips are designed to help young people understand what workers and other adults should be doing for them, and help adults to recognise what is expected of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two lists have been created by young people across Devon as part of our restorative practice approach<\/a>. There is one set of tips for children aged 5-10 years old and one for young people aged 11-17 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Children aged 5-10<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. \u00a0Make sure I know what\u2019s happening<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Listen to me<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Take time to get to know me<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Talk to me in a kind way which I can understand<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  5. Do what you say you\u2019re going to do<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  6. Let me know how I can talk to you when you\u2019re not with me<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  7. Make sure I feel safe in meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  8. Tell me who else will know about the things we talk about<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  9. Do your best for me and my family<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  10. Be kind and smile<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Young people aged 11-17<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    5. Do what you say you\u2019re going to do<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    6. Keep in touch regularly and make time for me<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    7. Make sure I feel safe and comfortable in meetings<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    8. Respect my confidentiality<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    9. Do your best for me and my family.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    10. Be human!<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
