All questions were optional, so some responses will total less than 254.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Age<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>195 responses were from parents and carers for primary school aged children (4-10 years).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>59 responses were from parents and carers for secondary school aged children (11 years +).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Free school meal eligibility<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>216 parents and carers responded for children eligible for benefits related free school meals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>38 parents and carers responded for children not eligible for benefits related free school meals.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Special Educational Needs and Disabilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>162 parents and carers were responded for a child without SEND.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>76 parents and carers responded for a child with SEND.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Experience using HAF schemes<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>96 parents and carers used HAF for the first time this Easter.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>155 parents and carers have used HAF before.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How did you hear about HAF?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common routes of communication for parents and carers were (in order):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>School (153)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Social media\/ internet (44)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Friends<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Word of mouth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Leaflet\/ Poster<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Other routes of communication included: HAF Website, Council email, direct correspondence to\/from provider, Family Support Worker, Young Carers Programme, Devon County Council email bulletin, Ukrainian Coordinator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What encouraged you to book your child in to the chosen HAF scheme?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The most common reasons for choosing a scheme were (in order):<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Range of activities (94)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make new friends (40)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Other<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Club was fully funded<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lean new things<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Helped financially<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Other responses included: All of the above; hot food and activities; keeps routine; suitable time away from school for their child\u2019s needs; mix of familiar and new friends; highly trained staff who are used to supporting young people with complex needs; activities they would otherwise not be able to do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What did you think about the food on offer at the HAF scheme?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>254 people responded to this question. 94 responses were \u2018good\u2019 (38%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Responses were mixed between liking the choices on offer and asking for a wider range of meals\/menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The breakfast offer was appreciated as a good way to start the day, with good range of options for \u2018fussy children\u2019 and those with complex needs. Families appreciated where providers had a back-up option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enjoyed process of preparing food from homegrown produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Parents appreciated speaking to caterers each morning at one scheme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The food was healthy and the children enjoyed the meals. Many said their child tried new foods and flavours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meal options could vary more each day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meals could be bigger for teenagers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About the respondents 254 parents and carers shared their thoughts on the HAF 2023 Easter Programme.
