Road users are being reminded of overnight closures planned to take place on Bridge Road in Exeter from Monday (3 July) to Thursday (6 July).
The road will be closed from 8:30pm to 5:30am each evening for resurfacing work to take place.
Drivers should be aware that large areas of the original road surface between the Canal and Matford roundabout will be removed overnight on Monday evening.
This will leave a rough surface when the road re-opens on Tuesday morning, with occasional loose grit, ramps at the start and end of the planed areas, and all road markings removed.
The new surfacing will be gradually completed during Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Motorists can expect a different traffic management layout each day and are asked to reduce their speed and take extra care. Cyclists who normally ride on the road may prefer to use the cycle path while this work is ongoing.
During the closures, the diversion route will be signed via Topsham Road, Alphington Road, Marsh Barton and the A379. Details of the diversion route are available here.
Details of changes to Stagecoach bus services will be available at https://www.stagecoachbus.com/regional-service-updates/south-west/greater-exeter
Pedestrians and cyclists will be able to access Bridge Road during the closure via temporary paths. They are advised to take care and follow the site signage and any instructions from site staff.
This work is weather dependent and may have to be cancelled at short notice. Contingency closures may go into the following week in this instance.
Further updates will be posted on the Bridge Road Widening Scheme website where you can sign up for alerts.
