The guide outlines your rights as a carer and gives an overview of the practical and financial support available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage all carers to read&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.carersuk.org\/help-and-advice\/get-resources\/being-heard-a-self-advocacy-toolkit-for-carers-uk\" rel=\"noopener\">Being Heard &#8211; a guide to self-advocacy for carers<\/a>. The guide has been produced by Carers UK to help carers speak up for themselves and the person they care for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Devon&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cabdevon.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Citizens Advice<\/a><strong> <\/strong>offers advice and information to carers on a range of topics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can call the Devon-wide Citizens Adviceline on <a href=\"tel:03444111444\">0344 411 1444<\/a><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>or drop into your local advice centre:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.citizensadviceexeter.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Exeter<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/citizensadviceplymouth.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Plymouth<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/southhamscab.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">South Hams<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/citizensadviceteignbridge.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Teignbridge<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizensadvicetorbay.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Torbay<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruraldevoncab.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Torridge, North, Mid and West Devon<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Route two &#8211; independent advocacy (aged 16+)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>If you have substantial difficulty in being involved in and have no appropriate individual to support you with:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>carer&#8217;s assessment (also known as a Carer Health and Wellbeing Check)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>support planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>review<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>safeguarding processes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>then a social care professional, including Devon Carers, can make a referral to the <a href=\"https:\/\/devonadvocacy.org.uk\/\" rel=\"noopener\">Independent Advocacy Service<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are two routes for getting advocacy support for carers.
