It is a forum attended by those with and those&nbsp;representing&nbsp;people with protected characteristics, lived experience of adult social care and adult social care services, carers, and voluntary sector partners to help shape adult social care and health services in Devon.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Forum plays&nbsp;an important role&nbsp;in ensuring that the voices of people and communities are meaningfully embedded within strategic decision-making, supporting a more person-centred and responsive system.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why we provide guidelines for guest speakers:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We share guidance with guest speakers to help ensure that JEF meetings are inclusive, accessible, and effective for all attendees. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The guidelines are intended to:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Support accessibility\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create a consistent experience\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Maximise engagement\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensure time is used effectively\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Promote inclusive and respectful\u00a0participation\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Guidance for the Joint Engagement Forum (JEF)&nbsp;Presentations<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Speaker time allocation&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Main speakers will be&nbsp;allocated&nbsp;between 20 and 60 minutes, depending on the agenda. Community round-up speakers will be&nbsp;allocated&nbsp;up to 5 minutes to provide concise updates.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Slides submission<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All presentation slides must be&nbsp;submitted&nbsp;at least one week in advance of the meeting. This allows sufficient time for distribution to attendees and supports those who&nbsp;benefit&nbsp;from&nbsp;additional&nbsp;processing or preparation time.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Slide length and structure<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Presentations should consist of no more than&nbsp;15&nbsp;slides&nbsp;unless agreed with the Involvement Team&nbsp;in advance. This helps&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;engagement, ensures key messages are clear and focused, and allows adequate time for questions and discussion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Accessibility considerations<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use a minimum font size of 14 (larger where possible).\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Keep text concise and avoid overcrowding slides.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use clear headings, simple language, and high-contrast colours.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Wherever possible, describe images or provide alternative text.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Questions and interaction<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please&nbsp;indicate&nbsp;your preference for handling questions:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>During the presentation (for a more interactive approach), or\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At the end (to allow uninterrupted delivery)\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Support from the Involvement Team<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>The Involvement Team is available to support speakers with:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Structuring presentations\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tailoring content for a diverse audience\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ensuring accessibility and clarity\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Practising or reviewing slides in advance\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Before Each Meeting:<\/strong>&nbsp;<br>At the start of each meeting, we will request attendees\u2019 permission to record the session. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recordings are used solely for\u00a0notetaking\u00a0and action logging purposes.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recordings and transcripts will not be shared or used for any other purpose without prior consent.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attendees will always have the\u00a0option\u00a0to decline participation in\u00a0recordings\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>After your attendance:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you have gathered feedback or lived experiences, please stay in contact with the Involvement Team so we can inform attendees of the outcomes of their contributions \u2013 &#8216;You said, we did\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The&nbsp;Involvement&nbsp;Teams contact details:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">socialcareinvolvement-mailbox@devon.gov.uk&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Overview of the&nbsp;forum:&nbsp; The Joint Engagement Forum (JEF) brings together representatives of the providers of the local engagement contract.
