class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">JEF members saw the annual report and self-assessment for adult social care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Discussion on the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection process and its implications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">State of Care Report: Key issues highlighted by CQC, including workforce challenges, cost pressures, unmet needs, and inequalities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Local performance data and comparisons with national averages were discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Strengths and areas for improvement in Devon\u2019s adult social care services were identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">JEF members were invited to send in feedback by email with a deadline of 31st January 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Local Engagement Round-Up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dimensions for Autism (DFA)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Celebrating 5th anniversary in March 2024.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engaging over 300 members weekly in Devon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health needs assessment focus group on January 22, 2025.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Carer Ambassadors \u2013 Devon Carers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Overview of special interest projects, individual activities, and peer support initiatives:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quality of GP Services:&nbsp;Concerns about varied quality at GP surgeries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Access to GP Surgeries:&nbsp;Suggested meeting with Suzie, Devon Carers partnership and development manager.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scams Awareness Program:&nbsp;2-year funded program by Age UK Devon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scams Impact on People with Learning Disabilities:&nbsp;Highlighted importance of addressing this issue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Resource Availability on Scams:&nbsp;Suggested having a speaker at a DFA meeting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scamming Engagement:&nbsp;Good engagement at LD meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Older People \u2013 Age UK Devon<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Feedback on adult care services:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Issues with occupational therapy and assessment delays.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Increase in enquiries from unpaid carers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Positive response from DCC on feedback results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Key feedback messages: shorter wait times, clarity on timescales, understanding assessments and rights.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ethnically Diverse Community Involvement \u2013 Hikmat<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Engagement with ethnic minority communities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Busy summer and Christmas with various disabilities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New project on the SEND route map to simplify information and create accessible short films.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Disability Partnership Board<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Updates on recent meetings and future themes:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Discussed commissioning, supported living, safeguarding, and barriers for ethnic minority carers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health updates and winter tips on energy saving and damp.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Plans for 2025 include presentations, updates on bus pass applications, and a Q&amp;A on domestic abuse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Learning Disability Friendship Groups<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recent activities:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>15 online and 10 face-to-face sessions with 233 attendees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Efforts to encourage more volunteers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>New website link and directory for people with disabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Healthwatch<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ongoing consultation for NHS Devon\u2019s ten-year plan:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Quarterly impact report shared.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Engagement methods include postcards, workshops, and online surveys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oliver McGowan Autism Awareness Training \u2013 Living Options Devon (LOD)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Current operations and future plans:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conducting 4-5 training sessions per week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trained 4,000 individuals.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborating with commissioners for the next year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Challenges with funding and support from
